Happy New Year!

May the Lord bless you and keep you safe and warm in 2015!

I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve as your Community Lay Director (CLD) for 2015 and ask for your prayers and assistance, along with God’s grace and direction to humbly serve our Emmaus Community. Some of you may remember I was CLD in 2006 and I am wondering if this is God’s way of saying to me, “you’re gonna keep on doing this til you get it right.” Please pray that I do this time!

I am very grateful for Bobbi Michael’s leadership and service as 2014 CDL. We were blessed to have her at our “helm”. Thank you, Bobbi!

I also thank Karen Sassaman, Doug Malatt, and Dave Gouker for their service on the Emmaus Board of Directors. Board members generally serve a 3 year term and the term for these 3 members was completed 12/31/14. Job well done!

In 2014, 84 brothers and sisters in Christ made their pilgrim Walk to Emmaus with the fall women’s week end being “full” with 24 pilgrims. Thanks to those 84 former pilgrims for saying “yes” when called and thanks to the sponsors, team members, board members and the countless people ”behind the scenes” for their prayers, support and agape. God blessed us in 2014 with the most pilgrims for the year since 2004! Praise the Lord and please continue to serve as His hands and feet going forward in 2015 by blessing your local churches and supporting our Emmaus community with your prayers, sponsorship of pilgrims, teaming, and your presence at gatherings, send offs, candlelight and closings.

Speaking of Gatherings…On January 10, 2015 the gathering will be held at Mountain View Church of the Brethren (Inwood, WV) from 6-8:30 p.m. This is the time of the year where we hold a memorial service and light candles in remembrance of members of the Emmaus community who went to be with the Lord in 2014. If you have a name you’d like to ensure we have remembered please let me know asap. (donmeckley@comcast.net)

The Men’s Spring Weekend is still looking for a few men to complete the team roster.  The weekend will be held April 23-26, 2015 with teaming set to start in a few weeks. Please fill out an application from our Emmaus website and/or contact Tom Hanscom or me for more information.

In 2015 let us remember that Christ is counting on us to be His hands and feet in this world and that we can always count on Christ to be there for each one of us!
